After Construction Cleaning
After Construction Duct Cleaning Before You Move In
Renovations throw a lot of fine dust into the air, and much of it finds its way into your ductwork through open returns and supply registers. Drywall dust, sawdust, and small construction debris settle inside the system and get pulled back out every time the furnace or air handler runs.
If the project is wrapping up, the best time to clean is now, before the system runs in regular use. Ductcallhq can schedule same day air duct cleaning after your contractor finishes, and you can call to ask about air duct cleaning cost for your home before you commit to a visit.
What We Remove After a Build
Renovation dust does not stay in the room. It settles into supply and return ducts and gets pulled back out every time the system runs. Here is how we clear it out, step by step, so the air you breathe after the build is clean.
-
1
Inspect the system
We look over the furnace, the trunk lines, and the branch runs to see how much drywall dust and debris has collected and where it sits before any cleaning starts.
-
2
Remove debris from supply and return ducts
Sawdust, drywall grit, and construction debris come out of both the supply and return sides, so dust is not just moved from one part of the system to another.
-
3
Clean registers and vent covers
Every register and vent cover is cleaned at the room end, where the dust you can see has been collecting since the work started.
-
4
Final check before handover
We run through the system once more and walk you through what was removed, so you know the ducts are ready before the space is occupied. For dust coming from vents after a remodel, see our residential air duct cleaning page, and for offices and buildings, see commercial duct cleaning.
Why Timing Matters After Construction
Drywall dust and sawdust don't stay put once the work is finished. Every time the system runs, it pulls air through the ducts and pushes whatever is sitting inside back into the rooms. Cleaning the ductwork before anyone moves in or sets up shop means that first run of the system is clean air, not a fresh round of construction dust.
Dust Moves Every Time It Runs
Debris left in the supply and return lines gets drawn back out through the registers each cycle. Clearing it out first stops that repeat exposure in the living or working space.
Easier Before Occupancy
Before the space is furnished and in use, access is open and nothing is in the way. Cleaning later means working around furniture, tenants, and daily activity.
Coordinate With the Final Walkthrough
Ask your contractor to schedule duct cleaning around their final walkthrough. That way the system is clean before handover, and any issues are caught while the work is still easy to address.
